Behind the Flavor: How We Built Peri-Peri Lime

Munch Craft Peri-Peri Lime Cashews pouch on a kitchen counter with fresh limes and chili peppers

Of all six Munch Craft flavors, Peri-Peri Lime is the one that takes the most balancing. Heat, acid, and salt all competing for the same bite — get the ratio wrong and one note drowns out the rest.

Where the inspiration comes from

Peri-peri seasoning has roots in African and Portuguese culinary tradition — a chili-driven spice blend that's typically bright and tangy rather than just hot. That's the profile we wanted to build toward: bold heat that doesn't overwhelm, finished with a citrus lift instead of fading into pure spice.

Engineering the balance

A dry-seasoning coating means there's no syrup or glaze masking the cashew itself, so every element in the powder blend has to be precisely dosed: enough chili for real heat, enough lime for brightness, enough salt to tie it together, and never so much of any one note that it overpowers the other two.

Why it's dry-coated, not glazed

A wet glaze is the easy way to get bold flavor onto a nut — and it's exactly what we avoid. Munch Craft's proprietary dry-coating process bonds the seasoning directly to an air-roasted cashew with no added oil and no sticky residue, so you get the bold Peri-Peri Lime flavor without greasy fingers or a gummy texture.

What ends up in the bag

Premium whole cashews, air-roasted with zero added oil, finished in a peri-peri lime seasoning with no artificial colors or flavors. Peri-Peri Lime is also one of the flavors made with 0 g added sugar - so the heat and citrus are doing all the work, not sugar.
